Polk CI State Release Paths

Polk Correctional Institution is an adult-male FDC state prison at 10800 Evans Road in Polk City. The facility includes a Main Unit and an associated Polk Work Camp. It is not part of the Polk County jail system. Its population consists of people held under state sentences, so FDC controls the custody record and the meaning of each release or movement.

Leaving Polk CI can produce several different records. A new institution in the offender detail means transfer within FDC. Placement at a contract transition site can remain a form of state community confinement. A past Release Date and Date Out-Custody document the end of an incarceration period. A supervised-population record can then show parole, conditional release, probation, community control, or another form of state supervision. Final discharge is distinct from both prison exit and supervision.

Confirm a Polk CI Release

The FDC Corrections Offender Network menu separates current inmate, inmate release, supervised population, and absconder records. For someone believed to have left state prison, begin with Inmate Release Information. Use the current inmate database when the question is whether the person is still at Polk CI or another FDC site.

1. Search the six-character DC number when known. Otherwise enter first and last name and retain alias matching.
2. Compare the result’s name, DC number, birth date, race, sex, and Release Date.
3. Open the detail and match the photograph, identifiers, Release Date, Date In-Custody, and Date Out-Custody.
4. Review sentence history, conviction county, case number, offense, and sentence date to confirm the correct commitment.
5. Check the supervised-population database to learn whether release from prison led to current state supervision.

A move from Polk CI to another FDC institution is not a release from FDC. Likewise, a release from prison to supervision is not an unconditional discharge. FDC’s released detail is historical evidence after release and is no longer updated as a report of later whereabouts. The FDC release result list shows Name, DC Number, Race, Sex, Release Date, and Birth Date. The detail adds a photograph, aliases, sentence history, and incarceration periods. The strongest public confirmation of the state transition is the combination of an Inmate Release result, a past Release Date, and the matching Date Out-Custody.

FDC does not consistently publish a narrative release reason in every public detail. The sentencing court, FDC records, or an order from the Florida Commission on Offender Review may supply the exact mechanism. Match the state sentence and case before relying on a date.

Note: A future release date can move because of sentence review, gain-time awards or loss, detainers, court orders, or other state calculations.

Polk CI Records and Contacts

For a release question, the FDC Bureau of Admission and Release is the named contact attached to the public release search. FDC says the release database updates nightly. When an online result does not resolve the issue, use the department’s public-records channel and ask for existing documents rather than requesting a new legal conclusion.

Identify the person by full name, aliases, date of birth, and DC number. Include the approximate release date, conviction county, and case number. Ask for the existing release history, dates in and out, release type, release facility, sentence computation, supervision record, relevant Commission order, and public offender photograph.

Polk CI Work Camp Status

The 2026 FDC Polk CI audit confirms the Main Unit and Work Camp within the institution’s administrative structure. A Work Camp placement does not create a separate county booking. It remains an FDC status, and the person should be searched by DC number or name in the state network.

The audit describes a wider administrative grouping that also includes other institutions and a Bartow contract site. Administrative grouping is not the same as physical location. Read the current facility field in the named person’s record. If it changes from Polk Work Camp to another FDC site, treat that as a transfer unless the release history and state status show that custody actually ended.

Polk CI Historical Release Records

FDC’s OBIS public data page is an additional route for old state releases. Its inmate-release cohort begins October 1, 1997 and is updated monthly, usually around the first. The files can include basic release data, aliases, prison offenses, detainers, and incarceration history.

That archive is useful when an ordinary search is difficult, but it is not a local Polk County release feed. Fields such as DC number, Prison Release Date, custody description, facility description, and incarceration dates must still be tied to the correct person and state commitment. Polk CI Immigration Boundaries

FDC’s 2026 audit states that Polk Correctional Institution does not hold people solely for civil immigration purposes. The 2019 and 2025 ICE agreements described in Polk release research are agreements involving PCSO, the county sheriff. They do not establish an ICE transfer practice at Polk CI and must not be applied to FDC decisions.

A state record may contain a detainer or another agency interest, but only the named person’s FDC record and the responsible receiving agency can establish what occurred. If FDC shows release and ICE custody is independently plausible, verify each system on its own terms. Do not claim that the PCSO memoranda caused or governed a Polk CI transfer.

Note: Agency boundaries matter because identical words such as “release” can describe the end of county, state, or immigration custody at different times.

Polk CI Release Versus Discharge

Prison release and full discharge are not synonyms. A person may leave Polk CI and report to FDC Community Corrections under parole, conditional release, probation, or another supervision type. The supervised-population search provides status, supervision dates, type, and office information. FCOR records may matter when Commission release authority applies.

Search both the release and supervision databases before concluding that state control ended. A termination date in the supervision record is more relevant to the end of supervision than the prison-gate date. If the databases conflict during a short update interval, preserve the dates reviewed and contact the FDC office that owns the record.

Polk CI Sentence Date Changes

A current FDC release date is not the same as a completed release. Florida law uses the term tentative release date for a state prisoner serving a term of years. The calculation can reflect the maximum sentence expiration date, gain time, forfeitures, sentence review, and other legal factors. A future date must be rechecked because it can move before the person leaves Polk CI.

Detainers and court actions can also affect what happens at the end of the FDC term. The public date does not prove where the person will go. A past Release Date and Date Out-Custody are stronger proof that the listed state incarceration period ended. The receiving agency and supervision record then answer what followed.

For an exact calculation, request the existing sentence-computation record from FDC and identify the DC number and state case. Do not ask PCSO to explain state gain time. County jail gain time is governed through a different legal and agency framework and does not control Polk CI.

Polk CI Identity Matching

Name alone is not enough for a state release search. FDC allows a six-character DC number and offers first-name, last-name, and alias routes. Compare the photograph, birth date, race, sex, sentence county, offense, case number, and incarceration history. A precise match prevents one person’s release date from being assigned to another person with a similar name.

Prior prison history can include FDC incarceration since January 1983. Each period has its own dates. Select the period tied to Polk CI or Polk Work Camp and the state commitment at issue. If the public detail suppresses a field or the release mechanism is not clear, use the records portal rather than guessing from an old location.
